WITC-NR staff attended a rally jointly organized by AFT-Wisconsin and WEAC on Wed. evening at UW-River Falls. The main purpose was to convince Sen. Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls) to vote against Walker’s proposal. More than 100 people attended. Edna Early (OTS) and I (faculty) spoke to the crowd, along with representatives from the university, K-12 districts, nurses, county workers, Minnesota teachers’ union, Minnesota labor unions and others. Twin Cities TV stations covered the event.
Also, the New Richmond K-12 teachers held a march and rally in downtown New Richmond today to call attention and to garner support to “Kill the Bill!” Again, Twin Cities TV stations covered the event.
